HAAS Air Filter Upgrade!

The flood coolant in our Haas VM-3 is great when it comes to machining – the problem is, once the doors are opened it escapes into the air as a mist and contaminates the rest of the shop air.

The MistAway unit on the machine helps, but we still see some coolant escape into the air through the doors of the machine when opened. The idea behind this upgrade is to have a filter located directly above the doors to whisk away the dirty air, keeping it out of the room and away from the operator.  Using a Y-splitting power cord, we tied the 110VAC in with the HAAS LED lights so that when the machine doors are opened, the powerful 390 CFM blower fan pulls the air through the filter and expels clean air out towards the ceiling of the shop and away from the machine operator!
