Ed and I got a chance to tour this amazing machine shop in Columbus, Ohio. Let’s explore ultrasonic additive manufacturing (UAM), friction stir welding, and 3D powderbed technology. Beyond using some of the most efficient manufacturing processes, they use fiber-optics to collect quality control data. Via the SBIR (Small Business Innovative Research) program, Fabrisonic is developing a 3D printer to send to the ISS (International Space Station) and the machine they’re using for its iterative design might surprise you!
