CNC Machining – How to Thread Mill an AR-15 Buffer Tube – Tormach PCNC 1100

I had always wanted to try thread milling with my Tormach PCNC 1100 and I finally bought a thread mill tool a few months back –

ends up that, aside from some CAM specifics, it’s pretty easy to do. The results are AWESOME! I will definitely use this in lieu of tapping with taps, single point threading, dies, etc on future projects! This video expands off the Tormach video tutorial on thread milling. I thought the 1 3/16 x 16 TPI thread on an AR-15 lower receiver and buffer tube would be a great example of a thread milled part. In this video, I walk through the CAD design of the part, the CAM in SprutCAM including some tips and tricks, then we make the part!
