This week we walk through design philosophy, CAD, CAM and machining a set of Monster Jaw softjaws to hold shoulder bolts that need trimmed and chamfered.

I previously made a fixture for this job which was poorly designed. It was inefficient to use and was not able to securely, reliably hold the workpieces. Softjaws were the perfect answer! Using the Tormach PCNC 1100, SolidWorks and SprutCAM made quick work of the job!
