​This two day introductory class focuses on the basics of using Fusion 360 in the machine shop, including CAD and CAM. No prior experience is required. Computers are provided, although you are welcome to bring your own laptop.

Hands On CNC Machining Class

This three day class will be focused on the operation and use of CAD, CAM and CNC milling machines! Students will use Fusion 360 CAD & CAM and Tormach CNC mills. Computers are provided, although students may bring their own laptop.

Class Prerequisites:  You must be comfortable with basic computer operation (Microsoft Windows, using a computer mouse).  No machining or Fusion 360 prior experience is required.

  • Hands-on review of soft jaws, fixture plates, Mitee-Bite, Carr-Lane and other workholding and fixturing tools
  • Discussion of workholding strategy, including balance of time, cost, fixture life, process reliability and setup time.
  • Fixturing Best Practices (marking fixtures, swap-able, keeping soft jaws in pairs)

  • Modeling Fixturing & Workholding systems
  • Multiple setups & coordinate systems

  • 4th Axis and 3+2 Machining
